The 20th International
Young Audience
Film Festival Ale Kino!
Poznań 10-15 June 2002

1. The 20th International Young Audience Film Festival Ale Kino! will be held in Poznań from
10 to 15 June 2002. The Festival is organised by Children’s Art Centre, Poznań Film Foundation, Multikino Sp. z o.o., in cooperation with “Zamek” Cultural Centre.

2. The Festival aims to present and promote valuable films for children and youths, stimulating film distribution and creating a forum for artists, critics and film theoreticians, producers, distributors, representatives of the audiovisual media, pedagogues and young viewers. As well, the Festival constitutes a significant element in the system of cultural education by means of making available to the young audience not only the film presentations themselves but a variety of educational forms accompanying them.

3. The Festival comprises the following sections:

  • international competition,
  • national competition,
  • information section and special presentations.


4. International films as well as Polish films registered in the national competition may be entered in the international competition as long as they meet the following conditions:

  • live-action or animation, unspecified running time,
  • produced in 2000, 2001, 2002,
  • performing not exclusively educational, scientific or advertising functions,
  • on 35 mm tape, exclusively with an optically recorded soundtrack. If the film is not on 35 mm tape, it may be entered on magnetic videotape on a professional system.

Participation in and awards from other festivals do not prevent from entering the film for competition.

5. The national competition may be entered by films produced in Poland, and in cases of international co-productions by Polish directors when they fulfill the following conditions:

  • live-action or animation, unspecified running time,
  • produced in 2000, 2001, 2002,
  • performing not exclusively educational, scientific or advertising functions,
  • on 35 mm tape, exclusively with an optically recorded soundtrack. If the film is not on 35 mm tape, it may be entered on magnetic videotape on a professional system.

Participation in and awards from other festivals do not prevent from entering the film for competition.

6. Films are registered for the Festival by means of a special entry form. Entry forms are accepted until 1 March 2002. The entry form should be accompanied by VHS videotape; in the case of foreign films, with English subtitles or with an English dialogue list.

7. The selection of films will be made by the organisers of the Festival. By 30 March 2002, all entrants will have been informed whether their films have or have not been entered in the Festival. In the case when a film has been selected for the Festival, the following information materials should be sent as soon as possible:

  • dialogue list,
  • synopsis,
  • the director’s biography and filmography as well as his/her photograph,
  • stills and press information package.

8. Films participating in the international competition will be evaluated by an international professional jury appointed by the organisers. The jury of the international competition will award the following prizes:

  • Grand Prix - Golden Poznań Goats for the best film of the international competition,
  • Silver Poznań Goats for the best live-action film for children,
  • Silver Poznań Goats for the best live-action film for young people,
  • Silver Poznań Goats for the best animation film.

The jury will confer the Grand Prix - Golden Poznań Goats on one of the three films receiving the Silver Poznań Goats.
What is more, the jury will confer the International Centre of Films for Children and Young People CIFEJ.
Moreover, the Jury may grant awards of honour.
Films presented in the international competition will also be evaluated by the children’s jury, which will grant the award of Marcinek and by the young people’s jury, which will grant the award of Marcin.

9. Films participating in the national competition will be evaluated by a professional jury appointed by the organisers. The jury of the national competition will award the following prizes:

  • Grand Prix - Golden Poznań Goats for the best film of the national competition,
  • Silver Poznań Goats for the best live-action film for children,
  • Silver Poznań Goats for the best live-action film for young people,
  • Silver Poznań Goats for the best animation film.

The jury will confer the Grand Prix - Golden Poznań Goats on one of the three films receiving the Silver Poznań Goats.
Moreover, the Jury may grant awards of honour.
Films presented in the national competition will also be evaluated by the children’s jury, which will grant the award of Marcinek and by the young people’s jury, which will grant the award of Marcin.

10. Prints of the films entered into the Festival should be sent to the following address by 1 June 2002:

On sending of a foreign film print and independent from the freight bill, an original pro-forma invoice and a fax or telegram giving the date of print dispatch, name of carrier and freight number should be sent in. Postage will be paid by the sender of the print. Return postage and insurance will be paid by the Festival. The insurance covering theft and damage up to the full value of the print indicated in the entry form is valid for the period from the receipt of the print by the Festival from the delivering carrier until the receipt of the print by the returning carrier from the Festival. Prints will be dispatched within 14 days from the Festival end, unless agreed otherwise.

11. Prints and dialogue lists of foreign films should be sent in the original version. If a print is subtitled in English then the dialogue list should also be in English. Polish translation of the dialogue lists will be simultaneously read by readers. The dialogue list and information materials shall be sent in immediately following the receipt of information on entering the film into the Festival.

12. Entering a film for the Festival is equivalent to acceptance of the above Regulations. Any matters not covered by these regulations will be decided by the organisers of the Festival. Regulations of the Polish Civil Code shall apply in an event of dispute.
